Complete Iron Oxides Set Travel Watercolor Palette, Half-Pans, Limited Release Online Hot Sale

This palette is comprised of a baker s dozen (13) magnetized Half-Pans of color enclosed in a travel tin, and accompanied by a hand-painted color chart.

This color collection includes all of our colors that primarily receive their coloring from iron oxides.  Iron oxide pigments define the Ochre category and have been in continual use since before recorded history began.  Some of the most significant pigments on the artists palette, it is exciting to see so many of them together, sourced from all over the world – and nestled together in one palette.

Hematite, Limonite, and Magnetite are each mineral forms of different types of iron oxides: Hematite is hydrous iron oxide, Limonite is a type of Goethite which is a non-hydrous iron oxide, and Magnetite is a ferrous-ferric oxide.  Each is responsible for imparting a range of colors to Ochre pigments.  To read more about iron oxides and what exactly Ochres are, click here!
